WHY DO YOU WANT TO SERVE ON THE BAGI BOARD OF DIRECTORS?
To continue to be involved in transforming BAGI to meet the changing needs of members and our industry.
WHAT IS YOUR VISION AS A BOARD MEMBER?
To bring a historic perspective of what BAGI has achieved and apply that knowledge to insure that BAGI remains pertinent to our members and our industry.
HOW ARE YOU CURRENTLY INVOLVED WITH BAGI?
I am currently on the Board of Directors and have served a number of terms. I was BAGI president in 2006.
WHAT IS YOUR CURRENT POSITION AT WORK?
I am Owner and President of Executive Homes Construction
WHAT ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUES FACING THE RESIDENTIAL INDUSTRY AND HOW CAN BAGI ADDRESS THEM?
There are a number of issues we face. They include over-regulation which leads to cost increase in both land development and house construction, as well as an acute shortage of quali ed labor.
HOW HAVE YOUR EXPERIENCES IN THE BUILDING INDUSTRY INFLUENCED YOUR LIFE?
I have met many of my closest friends in this industry.
LASTLY, WHAT ARE YOUR INTERESTS/HOBBIES?
I enjoy family time at the lake, occasional time at the shooting range and lling my time with projects.
WHY DO YOU WANT TO SERVE ON THE BAGI BOARD OF DIRECTORS? I would like to continue serving on the board because I feel like I make a difference as a builder board member even though I am only one voice. Even though all of the builder members are builders, we are all different. We build different sizes of homes at different price points, we come from different sized companies, and each business is managed differently. And each side of town sees similar but different issues. I represent the west side of Indy, particularly Hendricks County..
WHAT IS YOUR VISION AS A BOARD MEMBER? My vision is to form an alliance between government representation, builders, and vendors. We all play a part in our society and we need to work together.
HOW ARE YOU CURRENTLY INVOLVED WITH BAGI?
I am a current board member, BPCI member, Hendricks Co Council member, and I serve on various committees.
WHAT IS YOUR CURRENT POSITION AT WORK? I am the co-owner of J.R. Lazaro Builders.
WHAT ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUES FACING THE RESIDENTIAL INDUSTRY AND HOW
CAN BAGI ADDRESS THEM? Labor, Land, and Materials. BAGI already does a great job in these areas in as
much as they can. Labor is addressed through workforce development, land is addressed through alliances with
local government authorities and working with developers to promote the industry through home shows, namely Home-A-Rama and Indy Rama. Material supply and demand issues are addressed somewhat through BAGI’s partnership with BPCI. The board and its members are always looking at innovative ways to serve the membership and promote the industry.
HOW HAVE YOUR EXPERIENCES IN THE BUILDING INDUSTRY INFLUENCED YOUR LIFE?
Being a second generation builder, I’ve built homes for all of my life. I learned to work hard and in the face of adversity, work harder. The same is with family life. When you encounter adversity, work through it. I love my family and wouldn’t trade them for the world!
LASTLY, WHAT ARE YOUR INTERESTS/HOBBIES? I love family vacations, the beach, and travelling in general. I like to be outside, coaching my daughter’s softball team, riding atv’s and driving my Jeep
