Dear friends,

To say the least, 2020 has been a challenging year. We have watched the whole world come to a halt in the
face of the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure the safety and security of citizens.

While the impacts of the pandemic have been a struggle for many, we have found some relief thanks to the
wonders of modern technology. It has kept us connected to friends and family when we have been miles
apart. We have depended upon it for news
and information, as well as entertainment
and leisure. And it has been our lifeline in the
         working world.

Helping more people to access technology
has always been a priority for the Worshipful
         Company of Information Technologists, but
during this year your work has been vital.
You have guided dozens of businesses,
charities and individuals to use technology
         safely through your Information Security
Panel. You’ve supported the Civic City by
helping fellow Livery Companies and even St
Paul’s Cathedral with digitising their working
         practices and bringing engagements online.
And your work with Lifelites has enabled
staff working in children’s hospices to access
         training remotely.

Through these philanthropic endeavours, you have eased the impacts of COVID-19 on our communities,
and for that I am truly grateful.

As we look to the future, we must continue in these efforts, so that we do not just build back our society,
but build it back better, ensuring that our City prevails as it has done for centuries.

The Rt Hon The Lord Mayor
         Alderman William Russell
