Thru Jan 7 ~ National Arts Program ~ provides local artists of all ages with a forum to showcase their artistic accomplishments and encourages artistic growth through scholarships and awards. Open to all City of Santa Rosa residents, City employees and relatives of City employees. Registration ends January 7; limited to the first 200 entries. Apply online at: nationalartsprogram.org/ santarosa. Registration brochures are also available at the Finley and Steele Lane Community Centers. No fee to enter and artists of all ages, backgrounds and levels of experience are encouraged to participate. Prizes include art supply gift certificates and cash awards (totaling $3,450) by age and classifications. Best of Show award of $400 and a Continuing Art Education scholarship valued at $200. Every artist will receive a certificate of participation. The exhibition will take place February 4 – March 29, 2019 at the Finley Community Center, with an Awards Ceremony and Reception on Sunday, March 3, from 3-5pm. It brings to mind all the wild and wonderful ways that “Animalia” have been an integral and essential part our human experience.... archetypal animals, totemic animals, whimsical and sacred, silly and wise. Since the beginning humans have depended on animals for survival but have also relied on and trusted them as muses, guides and teachers. They endlessly inspire us with their beauty and teach us about how to be in this world. This show is open to artists in all media who honor our Animalia family.
