GARDEN VOLUNTEERS Needed
Nov 2 & Dec 7 ~ Share your passion for pollinators by helping our native plant garden thrive! Activities include planting, weeding, spreading wood chips, and general site cleanup. The native plant landscape includes wildflowers, grasses, sedges, trees, forbes and herbaceous plants. No experience necessary, just a willingness to learn about native plants. Training and tools will be provided, plus abundant and hearty snacks! Wear clothes and shoes that can get dirty. RSVP only if you are planning on bringing a group of 5 or more. You can come for part or all of the day. Volunteer lunch: Our chefs create an organic, vegetarian meal harvested from our gardens at 12:30p. What to bring: hat, sunscreen, extra layers or rain gear depending on season, sturdy shoes and water bottle. Please Note: we cannot accommodate a group of 6 people or more without prior arrangement. Larkfield Community Garden Work Day ~ Lend a helping hand at the garden on the third Saturday of every month! Our volunteer workdays for the entire family are a fun and healthy way to make new friends while learning how to tend the soil, grow local food and participate in environmental stewardship. Bring a hat, sturdy shoes and a water bottle. Snacks and work gloves provided. Ongoing ~ Sonoma Garden Park. We are also looking for our Chicken Team: letting our chickens out in the morning, feeding and filling water stations, collecting eggs, cleaning the coop. Flower Team: maintain our cutting garden and insectaries sowing seeds, record-keeping, transplanting, preparing fields, deadheading, mulching, and weeding. Native Plant Nursery: propagating native plants and grasses. Tree Pruning: the majority of these tasks occur during December and January. Drop- in volunteers are welcome (all new volunteers are required to attend a Volunteer Orientation before dropping-in). Heavy rain will cancel a volunteer workday.
