Some disadvantages of welded joints

         over threaded fasteners are

      1.      That they produce residual stresses;

      2. They distort the shape of the member,

      3. Metallurgical changes occur, and disassembly is a problem.

      4. As there is an uneven heating and cooling, during the fabrication,
              therefore the members may get distorted or additional stresses may

              develop.

      5. It requires a highly skilled labor and supervision. As the welded joints are
              rigid joints, therefore they must be treated as such in their design.

      6. The inspection of welding work is more difficult than bolting work.
