hen Danes from Wisconsin founded Dania
Beach, the first city in Broward County, the
W small town was an agricultural empire on
the coastal rail line. Later generations transformed the
beachside community into a destination for people
hunting antiques, vacationers chasing the sun, and
families seeking a sense of small-town life tucked
between the big cities of Fort Lauderdale and Miami.
Members of the Seminole Tribe no longer wrestle gators
for entertainment and the beer-drinking pig at The
Rustic Inn Crabhouse has long since passed, but the
town remains a lively destination. Still, because this is
Florida after all, Dania Beach has its share of quirky
sights, art destinations and outdoor adventures.
