Avalanche Mechtronics Pte Ltd


            Introduction

            Avalanche Mechtronics Pte Ltd (Avalanche Mechatronics)
            is a company that specialises  in building kiosk machines.
            Among their popular products are height-weight measuring
            machines commonly found in schools and hospitals, coin-
            operated car washing machines for HDB carparks offering
            water jet and vacuum services, and cash-bag deposit
            machines used by local banks. Despite being small, with only
            ten employees, the company operates efficiently, keeping
            utility consumption low, except during production periods
            when new machines are being fabricated.

            Upon our initial visit to Avalanche Mechtronics premises, the
            ESI teamencountered several challenges in implementing
            green  ecosolutions  due  to the  nature  of  the  business.
            The company operates primarily as a workshop filled with
            machinery and tools, with limited lighting, and an air-
            conditioning system (Figure 1). The company shares a small
            washroom among its ten workers.

            During the review of the premises and introduction to
            the company’s products and services, the team observed
            cartons of paper rolls stocked up in the storeroom (Figure 2).
            The business owner explained that these paper rolls are used
            in the height-weight measuring machines and the cash-bag
            deposit machines.


            Environmental Review


            The company operates 29 cash-bag deposit machines
            deployed to bank outlets, each equipped with a kiosk
            thermal printer that generates a receipt at the end of each
            deposit transaction.
