Offenders can contribute to society as the act of
giving has no boundaries. They are taking the first
step and being willing to give beyond matters.
In so doing, offenders can invaluably impact the
community and change lives for the better.

NYAA has created a conducive platform for
participants to give back to society. It has enabled
participants to teach the act of passing through
            rudimentary activities. Participants have learned
that despite their circumstances, they have much
more to offer the community. Prison staff, family
members and community partners have played an
integral role in encouraging the spirit of giving and Minister for Education, Chan Chun Sing presenting the NYAA Award,
galvanizing participants to become better citizens. 2021.

“I had the opportunity to participate in the NYAA Programme while serving time in
Kaki Bukit Prison School almost 20 years ago. I am glad, in many ways, my experience
exemplifies the ethos of the NYAA: the “Can Do” spirit and service without discrimination.
I am glad I am in a good position to help many young people stay away from gangs and
                        drugs.”
