Their Facility Supervisor mentioned that their AHU is running 24 hours every day regardless of production usage.
Hence, we can calculate the electrical usage for the AHU under average load, as shown in Table 6.

Description Load (kW) Total (kW) Carbon Emission (kg of CO )
                                                                                                               2
                                                                                               1 kWh = 0.4188kg
             3 AHUs for one hour 150.2 + 122.3 + 77.7 350.2 146.66
             3 AHUs for one day 350.2 * 24 hrs 8,404.8 3,519.93
             3 AHUs for one month 8,404.8 * 30 days 252,144 105,597.90

Table 6: 3 AHUs load and carbon emission.

The US Department of Energy reports7 that replacing dirty filters with clean air filters can reduce your energy
consumption by up to 15%. For our report’s purpose, we will be conservative in stating that we will reduce energy
consumption by 5% by changing AHU filters, as shown in Table 7.

Description Load (kW) Carbon Emission (kg) Load increased (5%) Carbon Emission
                                                         1 kWh = 0.4188kg Increased (kg)
             3 AHUs for one month 252,144 105,597.90 5,279.895 2,211.22

Table 7: 3 AHUs load and carbon emission with no change of AHU filter.

Power consumption will be reduced by about 5,279.90 kWh per filter change, saving approximately $2,049 or
            4,422.44 kg CO per annum.
