Chairman of the NYAA Advisory Board
The lives of all living things on our blue planet are deeply and intricately connected. This complex web
of interactions has been forged over millions of years. However, human activities such as burning fossil
fuels and destroying the forests are threatening the natural balance. We must each do our part to build
a sustainable future for all lives on earth.
It is especially important to nurture and develop our youths, who will inherit the future and be stewards
of our environment. Our youths, brimming with energy and creativity, can lead efforts to build a more
sustainable and resilient future for the world and Singapore.
I deeply appreciate the unwavering support of the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC)
for our National Youth Achievement Award (NYAA). Over the past 25 years, HSBC has been supporting
the HSBC NYAA Youth Environmental Award. Through this partnership, HSBC has empowered young
Singaporeans to take on leadership roles in environmental sustainability, enabling them to make
significant contributions in safeguarding our natural heritage and promoting a greener future.
The success of this award is a testament to the strong collaboration between the public and private
sectors, as well as the dedication of our youth. As we celebrate this important milestone, I look forward
to many more years of partnership, where we continue to foster a generation of environmentally
conscious leaders who will lead Singapore and the world towards a more sustainable future.
