The HSBC-NYAA ITE Sustainability Initiative addresses I am grateful to the NYAA Council, the Institute of Technical
this challenge head-on. By pairing ITE students with Education (ITE), and HSBC for their steadfast support in
participating SMEs, the initiative provides practical turning this vision into reality. My sincere thanks also

minimise waste. Over the past three years, the initiative
has consistently shown that sustainability is not a cost Together, we are building a generation of changemakers—
centre—it is a competitive advantage. Participating and laying the foundation for a sustainable Singapore.
companies have reduced their operational costs while
            strengthening their environmental credentials and
market standing, both locally and internationally.

At the same time, the programme empowers ITE
students with the knowledge and hands-on experience
needed for Singapore’s transition to a green economy. If
applied at scale across the industrial sector, the ‘Triple
Win Formula’ could help Singapore avoid millions of
tonnes of emissions annually while strengthening our
national resilience and meeting our international climate
            commitments.

The science is clear: today’s youth will bear the brunt of
worsening climate impacts unless we act decisively now.
            Given Singapore’s climate vulnerabilities, emissions
obligations, and ambitions to lead in the green economy,
we owe it to our young people to secure a cooler,
            greener, and more sustainable future.

I was impressed by the ingenuity, diligence, and
commitment shown by the ITE students involved in
this initiative. Their enthusiasm for environmental
stewardship and their desire to contribute meaningfully
to Singapore’s climate goals offer hope and direction.
