About stories from Our Grandparents
Stories from Our Grandparents is a project that seeks to capture
the Singaporean stories that form our nation’s history from our
pioneer generations.
In this book, 100 stories from pioneer Singaporeans are
documented by their grandchildren, sharing their struggles and
contributions during the early years of nation-building. The stories
allow these pioneers to express their wishes and aspirations for
younger Singaporeans in the hopes of inspiring them to strive for
excellence in their fields of endeavours and contribute in their
own way to take Singapore into the future.
We also hope that through this project, we will be able to
showcase the hard work and dedication and pay tribute to the
pioneer generation for their sacrifices and effort put in to build
the safe, efficient and beautiful Singapore that we have today.
This project is organised by the NYAA Gold Award Holders’ Alumni
and supported by the NYAA Council and Our Singapore Fund.
