This is a graph that shows the Reportable Accidents Triggers (Root Causes) for ALL Benchmarking Club
Members – “Irish Construction Industry Performance”

Utilising the standard EU list of Triggers the CSP Benchmarking Working Group has agreed 15 triggers
(root causes) of which those that have a Reportable Accident attributed to them, eight, are shown below.
Again the graph represents the number of Reportable Accidents – 64 - over the last 12 months from Nov 09
– Oct 10.

The Pie chart above shows the % of the 64 Triggers for each category and in the legend you have the actual
number of accidents attributed to each trigger. For example there were 14 accidents due to movement and
12 accidents due to loss of control of machinery/plant that represented 21.8% and 18.75% of all reportable
accidents respectively
