Vice President Kamala Harris
“I was raised by a mother who said to me all the time, ‘Kamala, you may be the
first to do many things. Make sure you’re not the last.’”
Vice President Kamala Harris is the first woman, the first Black, the first South
Asian and the first member of the Congressional Black Caucus to become Vice
President of the United States.
“The Congressional Black Caucus is
proud of our very own,” the CBC said
after the victory of President Biden and
Vice President Harris in November
2020. “A graduate of Howard
University, an HBCU, and a Member of
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, a Black
sorority, VP Harris is a product of these
long-standing institutions in our
community. We are confident that her
zeal for improving the upward mobility
of marginalized groups in America will
continue to be a priority in this next
phase.”
