Grade 9

Freshman Religion

Foundations of Faith:

The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the core beliefs, practices, and attitudes of
Catholicism. This course gives the students the opportunity to gain a deeper appreciation for how
God reveals himself to humanity and how we can come to know God and his divine plan through
reason and Revelation. Special emphasis will be placed on the importance of Scripture and
tradition in the process of coming to God and his plan for our salvation.

The Revelation of God in Scripture: Old Testament

The purpose of this course is to give students a general knowledge and appreciation of the Sacred
Scriptures. In the course they will learn about the Bible, authored by God through Inspiration,
and its value to people throughout the world. If they have not been taught this earlier, they will
learn how to read the Bible and will become familiar with the major sections of the Bible and the
books included in section.

Sophomore Religion

The Revelation of God in Scripture: New Testament

The purpose of this course is to give students a general knowledge and appreciation of the Sacred
Scriptures. In the couse they will learn about the Bible, authored by God through Inspiration, and
its value to people throughout the world. The students will pay particular attention to the
Gospels, where they may grow to know and love Jesus Christ more personally.

Morality/Theology of the Body

The purpose of this course is to help students understand that only through Christ they can fully
love out God’s plans for their lives. Students will learn the moral concepts and precepts that
govern the lives of Christ’s disciples. Special emphasis will be placed on how to apply the Gospel
message in the area of sexuality. Students will grow in understanding the gifts of chastity and
vocation.
