• The region in the centre of the pattern will be a BRIGHT fringe. It will also be brighter than the other bright
fringes.
• The intensity of the fringes will decrease the further they are from the central bright fringe.
• The bright and dark fringes are also known as maxima and minima, respectively.
• The position of the m maximum on either side of the central maximum is given by the equation:
