P. 19
A spectroscope (or spectrometer) is an instrument that uses a diffraction grating to separate light from a given
source into its component wavelengths for analysis.
The components of the spectrometer are given below
EXAMPLE
Show that the second and third spectra of white light will overlap when viewed through a diffraction grating. Take
the wavelengths limits of light to be 400nm (Violet) and 700nm (Red).
