“My sister and I were able to stay at the hospice fulltime while we cared for Mum with support from the nurses and doctors. During our stay we were able to use the fold down beds. We
had around 15 to 20 people visit Mum each day and the room had enough seats and space to accommodate everyone.
We used the kitchen in the family room all the time, reheating meals that were brought in for us by friends and family. The hospice kitchen made Mum whatever flavoured smoothies she wanted every morning.
Mum felt safe at the hospice with us there and all the wonderful doctors and nurses on call.
We would wheel her hospital bed outside into the garden so she could watch her grandchildren playing in the playhouse and on the trampoline outside. At times it felt like a family holiday.”
