MICK TURNER I MASONIC CAREER AND ACHIEVEMENTS
CONTINUING CHARITY AND TRADITION
I have continued to do charitable work both inside and outside the organisation as well as at Lodge and District level. Supported by Caroline, we are proud to continue the tradition of the “Egley” lunch started by VW Bro Dave Egley nearly 30 years ago.
This is a Lodge based lunch that attracts between 40-50 members and partners annually and is held at our home.
On a Divisional level, I have continued to be personally involved in several fundraising activities allowing us to be more generous in our giving within our Divisional projects.
With the help of the Masonic Club we have hosted the District 19/21 Children’s Christmas Party at our home for
the last five years. This allows Masons, partners, children and grandchildren to come to a safe environment where Santa arrives by helicopter, there is a bouncy castle and food and drink provided leaving the parents only to provide a moderately priced present at a very expensive time of year. The children’s Christmas party has grown over time to nearly 100 attendees.
Outside of Freemasonry I continue to live our values.
An example of this is where we have provided specialist drone capability to a local volunteer group responsible for maintaining a nearby wetlands area. With drone footage they have been able to effectively prioritise their efforts and determine the effectiveness of their work. This led onto a joint project with the local school where we conducted a drone day involving all the school and streaming live drone footage into the assembly hall.
