Presbyterian Support New Zealand and Family Works NZ Trust are a federation of independent organisations that cover the whole country.
In 2017-18 the Presbyterian Support family, which includes Family Works and Enliven Positive Ageing Services, supported tens of thousands of people in need across New Zealand. We remain one of the largest and most trusted providers of health and social services in New Zealand.
We are a faith-based organisation with strong values that guide how we care, enable and support individuals and whānau. Our staff use a professional, multi-disciplinary approach that is proven and trusted.

Together our seven regional organisations provide Family Works and Enliven services across Aotearoa.
More than 4,100 staff and 2,350 volunteers making a difference together
initiatives for the sector.
Of course, the year has not been without its challenges. Our Family Works team are working with increasingly complex cases, funding is tight and the environment is uncertain. The pay gap between community and government social workers is making recruitment and retention challenging.
Despite these challenges, Family Works skilled, highly qualified and passionate workforce continues to make sure our tamariki are safe, family and whānau are strong and communities are connected.
Family Works
A major highlight for Family Works
in 2017-18 has been the formal implementation of our evidence-based family solutions model, Te Ara Whānau.
This unique way of working truly creates transformational change for whānau facing significant and complex challenges. It involves our multi- disciplinary team engaging with whole whānau units and providing a tailored range of services to meet the needs of both individuals and the family.
The official roll out of this exciting outcomes-focused model came as Family Works welcomed the new
Government’s review of how social services work for the most vulnerable in our society. We know collaborative and intensive practice approaches, like Te Ara Whānau, are the answer to addressing the complex needs
of our clients, and to breaking intergenerational cycles of abuse, poverty and neglect.
In conjunction with Te Ara Whānau, Family Works has been closely involved in the leadership and governance of the emerging children’s workforce development initiatives and the national outcomes evaluation framework. These are exciting
