Decks

Color

 Deck, railing, and support structure (all but the walking surface) to be painted/stained
the same color of the house trim.

Upper-Level Decks

 Any extension beyond the side party wall must be set in a minimum of 2 feet or angled away
from the party wall at 45 degrees or less.
 The maximum projection from the house to be 12 feet.
 Application is required for installation of any upper level deck.

Railings

(Railing for decks, balconies, and hand railings are 2"x 2" vertical pickets)

 All railings on a house must be consistent
 Pickets to be attached to the outside of a 2"x 4" hold rail, positioned no more than 3" above
the floor of the deck or balcony
 The hold rail be bolted to 4"x 4" support posts
 Sweep space between the bottom of the hold rail and the floor of the deck or balcony be 3"
 The deck to be constructed in such a way that knee braces are not required for support
