A New Garden
The Project will enhance the usable space of the Garden by 700 sq. ft., creating approx. 25 more seats in outdoor capacity. It will
expand both east and west so the new Garden will have less grass and more space for Member use, while still being tent-friendly
for large events such as weddings and birthday celebrations. The reoriented Garden entrance will feature a new walkway access
under a Pergola and additional landscaping to enhance the overall aesthetic. A new accessible walkway will loop around the east
and northeast sides of the Clubhouse, connecting the Garden to the Club’s accessible entrance. The Garden will now be fully
enclosed for an improved entrance experience and overall security.
Crucially, a new service pavilion will be built to contain dual functions for staff and Members: a fully equipped servery for staff to
allow our front-of-house team to provide more productive and efficient service during the outdoor season; and for Members;
Two washrooms (1 barrier free) will occupy the eastern half of the pavilion, adjacent to the new walkway, providing easy access
for Garden dining and events.
The changes to the Garden will not have a detrimental impact on the parking lot, with the only area impacted being the current
staff overflow space —presently used only for deliveries and staff parking on exceptionally busy evenings.
Civil Engineering
Sewage: The Club’s sewage line is an old clay line that is over 120 years old and runs from the east corner of the Conservatory
beneath the Garden.
Taking advantage of the re-paving of the Garden, we will be building a new sewage line as part of the Renovation Project; catch
basins will also be installed in the Garden to improve drainage, which has become an issue in recent years during heavy rainfall.
Water: The current water line runs through Bloor Street and requires updating to accommodate the fire suppression (sprinkler)
system mandated. More water pressure is also needed, and a new fire hydrant — required by municipal code — will be located
near the TTC station.
Electric: Working with Toronto Hydro, the Club will install a new electrical line and panel in the Basement.
