News CCCI invites national clubs and correspondents around the world to send news
for publication in Chow Life magazine. Chow Life is sent to more than 20
countries and we’d love to see the Chow world get a bit smaller through this media.

Greetings from a cold and stormy UK. and went on to win the special beginners at Bath
canine society show and went onto win group 2
I am writing about our CHOW OF HE YEAR special beginners the same day she received her
SHOW. first reserve Challenge certificate. Despite her
The COTYS started in 1965. It is supported by all of recent success we entered the Chow of the year
the UK Chow clubs and organized and run by each show with the view we were going to support the
club in turn. Unique, in that it has always been run Chinese Chow Chow Club. We were thrilled to win
as an open show and not a championship show. the 2 classes we entered with strong competition.
Winning at the COTYS holds the same prestige as The end of judging came and saw her win best
winning at Crufts - everyone wants to do it. bitch; the two overseas judges conferred for what
seemed hours but in reality were minutes before
The very first winner was Mrs. Dulcie Smith's CH unanimously announcing her Chow Chow of the
Tiko Ling at Hanoi. There were 115 dogs making Year 2023! We were absolutely thrilled and in utter
286 entries. disbelief, a feeling which carried on for days. In
The COTYS has always drawn big entries, the the meantime Maggie carried on her usual self at
highest being in 1985 with 273 dogs making 414 home. We have another three Chows including her
entries. This was a sight to behold, so many Chows Daughter, Maggie is definitely king pin and keeps
in one place, the 1970's - 1980's seemed to be the others in check occasionally letting herself

quantity was there in depth. One notable winner regaining her regal composure. I know I will never
was Eric and Joan Egerton's CH UKwong King own another dog like Maggie, she is my constant

What an achievement. future in the show ring and as a mother.
COTYS 2023 was judged by 2 overseas chowists, Mel Coleman
Mr. Mauro Mostura (Italy) judged the dogs and
Mr. Paul Stanton (Sweden) judged the bitches. The
ultimate Best in show was the bitch, Mel Coleman's
Bon Triumph Diadem. Diadem was bred in Russia
at the well known Bon Triumph kennel, owned by
Marina Vekovischeva. Marina has made several
forays to Crufts and had amazing success. This
was Mel's first really "big" win and needless to say
was over the moon. Well done. Reserve BIS was
the dog, CH. Bojinghai Zeus who was also best any

We have always had rescued Chow Chows but
Maggie was our first Chow we bought to show
from the Bon Triumph kennels. She travelled to
England with her brother and sister. We started
showing her in the summer of 21, she did well
as a puppy. Unlike other Chows of the same age
her coat refused to blow this held her back for a
while. However after a litter of 2 pups she seemed Bon Triumph Diadem
to find her feet coming back with a beautiful coat Pet Name: Maggie DOB 11-12-2020
