She was brought immediately to an emergency
animal hospital and admitted as “CRITICAL”! She
was malnourished, septic and had deep puncture
wounds in her little legs. She was also diagnosed
with Parvo and for the next 48 hours it was not
            known if she would survive.
But Sapphire had other plans. Even the
veterinarians were surprised at how hard this
malnourished and dehydrated little pup fought to
            live!

Sapphire spent eight days in the emergency ward
which cost PAL $14,000! When she was discharged
she was placed in a foster home with one of our
volunteers where she made a full recovery. Athena
and Bison also recovered in their respective foster
            homes.
Sapphire, now named Lucy, has been adopted into
a wonderful forever home. She is smart, friendly
and curious. She loves everyone and everything.
As for the few naysayers who said we should
euthanize her and use the money to save more
than one dog, we say: Every life is precious and
PAL would never give up on any dog if there is a
            glimmer of hope!

With my utmost gratitude to CCCI for their
support, Caryl Sapphire (now Lucy) - After
