Note from the Editor
Being editor of Chow Life or any magazine involves many decisions from
designing most of the ads & selecting articles to the arrangement & order
of the pages. It requires creativity, being skilled in a variety of computer
applications and attention to a plethora of details.
The following piece about being a photographer & artist was written by a
friend of mine, David M Humphrey, but I feel it also applies to creating a
magazine and expresses what I try to do as Editor.
“We are so much more than the person behind the camera.
Regardless of what we shoot, we as photographers put so much of
"ourselves" into the images we create. Some think it's just pushing
a button and clicking a mouse or running a filter in Photoshop.
What they fail to see isn't just the years of education and tens of
thousands of dollars that we have invested repeatedly into our art
but the emotional investment. That part of us that puts ourselves
into the creation of that image. Not just any image, but an image
that "we" would want for ourselves, or our loved ones. If "we" were
commissioning the creation of images that would forever preserve
a moment in time, one that will be ours to cherish for the rest of
our lives. That is our goal.”
My goal as Editor is to create a magazine that includes articles for a variety of
interests and experience and showcases the breed we love.
