President’s

            Message

                                                                                by Cathy Clapp

I wish the best to everyone as we wind down the final days of 2022. The holidays are a time to be spent with
family and friends and recollections of the previous year. Focus on the “bests” that happened to you and let
go of the unpleasant. And please, do not end the year on a bitter note with any of your friends or acquain-
tances. Take a step forward and reach out, make amends. Whatever the aggrievance was, let it go rather than
letting it consume and rule you. Please, do not end a longtime friendship because of something that hap-
pened over a dog. Find a resolution and move forward, maybe not with the same relationship, but at least
not with a bitter, angry one. I know, it is difficult. It's much easier said than done. But you never know when
something might happen that will never allow you to relieve yourself of that burden. We only have to look at
our members and friends that passed away over the last year to know it is true, for not only did some of our
elderly members die, but there were those that were still full of life that were unexpectedly gone. So please,
pick up your phone and make that call or send a text or email. Don't find yourself riddled with regrets when
          the opportunity vanishes.
And please, keep the family and friends of those that are no longer with us in your thoughts and prayers.

                                                January 1 – October 12, 2022*

                                          Joan Falchuk Loretta Lyon
                                           Linda Ford Cody Milligan
                                          Pam Gilevich Mae Palm

May you find blessings and peace during this holiday season and a renewed joy and positivity to start 2023.
I hope you will make part of your New Year's Resolutions plans to support your fellow Chowists and Chow
Specialties. Offer to help where you can. Plan a road trip and go somewhere you have never been before.
You never know when you’ll discover a destination you find you want to go back to.
To see the upcoming chow specialties that are currently approved go to AKC.org → Event Search → Con-
formation Events: Specialties (S, PS, DS) → or type a specific Breed: Chow Chow → Retrieve Events. Once
you find a specialty you are interested in, go back under Conformation and add All-Breed and then on the
map select the state(s). That will give you not only the Specialties but the All-Breed shows that go with them.
Make sure to check back on a regular basis as shows are added to the AKC calendar as they are approved.
It is my honor to serve you as President of The Chow Chow Club, Inc., and I do take concerns of our mem-
bers seriously. Please, if you have any suggestions or questions, don't hesitate to contact me.
          Happy Holidays to all!
          Cathy Clapp

*If you know of anyone that passed away during 2022 that is not on this list, please let me know so the
records can be updated. The 2023 National will be dedicated to those lost during 2022.
