President’s Message
by CATHY CLAPP
It’s the Summer Issue of Chow Life and that
means it’s time for the annual Awards to
be published. This year was the first year
that the Chow Chow Hall of Fame and the
Chow Chow Versatility Program awards
were offered. Both of these awards require
that applications be submitted. To have your
dog recognized and honored, please check
out the requirements. They are published
in this issue of Chow Life as well as are
available in the Members Only section of the
CCCI website. We would love to see more
participation so check it out and see if your
dog is eligible for either of these new awards.
Another very important process of the
CCCI is taking place this year – our annual
election. What makes this one so important
is that all of the officers and AKC Delegate
positions are on the ballot. I am in my
second two-year term and due to term
limits, will not be eligible to run again as
President. Vice President, Corresponding
Secretary, Recording Secretary, Treasurer
and AKC Delegate are also up for election
this year for two-year terms in addition to
three Director Positions (3-year term). The
Nominating Committee will submit their
recommendations that will be sent to the
Membership, but any Regular Member in
Good Standing that lives in the US is eligible
to run. All you need is a petition with 10
signatures to be on the Ballot that will be sent
out this fall. The Board meets four times per
year – three times by Zoom meeting plus
the Spring meeting which is in person at the
National Specialty. If you choose to run it is
important for you attend these meetings as
this is where CCCI policy and decisions are
made. The best way to learn how things are
done and offer solutions is to become part of
the Board.
