Greetings from the UK where spring has eventually arrived.
Our Chow rescue has been very busy due to all the puppies produced during the COVID lock-
down, when so many people thought they could make a fast buck. Astronomical vets fees and
a rising cost of living has had an impact on all breeds. Even the pups advertised as "rare" co-
lours (serious breeders call them undesirable colours) are no longer in demand thank goodness.
Entries for our shows seem to be picking up and there are some quality youngsters are coming
through. Things are looking brighter for the breed.

The main show this year was of course Crufts. Thomas Oakley, Sukura Chows, officiated. The
dog CC was the lovely self red dog, CH Elvis The Amazing Boy del Tassimo to Loyjean who also
won 2 years previously. He is owned by Bill and Jean McNaught and was bred in Switzerland.
The bitch CC and Best of Breed was won by Phil and Kate Wright's home bred Shulian Santa
Ana Star. This pretty girl was shown by Kate.

UK CH Shulian Santa Ana Star, born 15-12-
This is our Elvis. The breeder is Paolo and 2021, pet name “Seb.” Seb is a friendly active
Sandra’s Gusberti from Switzerland. He is a dog who loves teasing and playing with our
typical Chow very aloof but loves cuddles from other Chows, loves people and dogs alike.
everyone he meets, he loves his cheerios and Seb is having a stellar show career winning a
yogurt in the morning .He has up to date 8 CCs 5 number of Best of Breed/Best in Show placings,
RCCs and 5 BISs and the climax was being made including a Championship Group 2 placing.
a Champion and getting a Utility Group 2 at Her first Challenge Certificate (with BOB) came
Crufts in 2022 when he had just turned 4 yrs. old, on 17-08-2023 with her crowning CC gained
so we hope he continues his winning streak. on 22-10-2023, culminating with BOB at Crufts
2024, this following in her mother's (CH Shulian
Sparkling Star) footsteps who won BOB 2020.
