News CCCI invites national clubs and correspondents around the world to send news
for publication in Chow Life magazine. Chow Life is sent to more than 20
countries and we’d love to see the Chow world get a bit smaller through this media.

The end of 2018 saw one more chow gaining her championship, giving us a total of seven new champions
over the year. We were pleased to watch when Mrs. Jenner Parsons’ black bitch became Ch. Jenrene’s Loving
Black Jack by gaining her qualifying 3rd. Challenge Certificate. American & Canadian chowists will also
have an interest regarding this new champion as, on her sire’s side, she is a grand-daughter of
American Ch./ Canadian Ch. & UK Ch. Mi-Pao’s Csardas. She is home bred, known at home by the call
          name of “Tilly”.

Tilly was one of a litter of 6 pups & was sold to a new home at the normal age. A year later on that home
suffered an unexpected marriage breakdown, which meant that Tilly could no longer be cared for in that
home & so Tilly was returned home to Jenner. Only the previous week Jenner had lost Tilly’s mum, Kyra,
due to an emergency c section going wrong. When Tilly arrived home it was just like having Kyra back, so
Jenner decided to keep Tilly for life. Only 4 weeks later Tilly was shown at the Chow Club of Scotland Ch.
show. She had never been to ring-craft, nor to any show, so it was decided just to see how she would get on.
Tilly not only won her class but she also won the Reserve CC! To date she has won 5 CCs and 3 Reserve CCs.

At home Tilly is very bossy with the other chows, winding them up & causing trouble. She is very protective
of Jenner’s mother, going everywhere with her & often very quietly sneaking into bed with her, so sneakily
that she isn’t noticed getting in! Tilly adores being bathed. She stands true & square upon the command
“feet”, but probably because that means she gets her chicken treat! Tilly has been successful at breeding a
litter………. something very few chow bitch champions have succeeded at.

The end of the year also gives us the awards for Top Puppy in Breed, Top Breeder
In Breed & Top Dog or Bitch in Breed. These awards are decided by gaining
points at championship shows over the year.

Top Puppy in Breed 2018 is Mrs. Janet King’s Shulian Shimmering Star at
          Kweichow.

Picture here on the left with his breeder, Ms. Elaine Cannon who won Top Breeder
in Breed, is Ch. Miketilla Rocket Man who won the Top Dog or Bitch in Breed
                                  2018.

Shows for 2019 are just beginning with the first general all breed championship
show (Manchester) held this weekend & Crufts is not too far away on the horizon.
Several chows are on 2 CCs at the moment awaiting their qualifying 3rd. so we are
looking forward to the new champions of 2019. We wish you all, everywhere, a
very happy & successful year showing.
