President’s
Message by Dave Cook
As we enter the holiday season, let’s take a moment to stop and
reflect on what is important in our lives. It is a time to celebrate with
family and friends and of course that includes our four-legged family
members. It is also a time to help those that are less fortunate than us.
While there are many great causes, I encourage you to donate to Chow
Welfare or one of the regional Chow rescue organizations this holiday
season. I am sure that all donations small or large will be greatly
appreciated.
Before you know it, the 2020 National Specialty will soon be here. I
hope to see everyone in Niagara Falls from April 26th through April
30th. This year there will be 3 regional specialties along with the
National Specialty which will be hosted by the Wine Country Chow
Chow Association of New York. Everyone can help to make this year’s
National Specialty a big success by being a sponsor, donating to the
trophy fund, donating money or items for the hospitality bags and of
course by entering your Chows.
Following our National Specialty will be three days of Canadian
shows including the Canadian National Specialty and the Chow Chow
Fanciers of Ontario Specialty just a short distance away in Thorold,
Ontario. This is a rare opportunity to attend the National Specialty and
to try and obtain a Canadian Championship on your Chow as well.
Please note that the Canadian entries are limited and if you plan on
entering do so early.
Please add the dates for the 2021 National Specialty to your calendar,
The National Specialty will be held at the Radisson Hotel Harrisburg
in Cap Hill, PA on April 19th through the 22nd. The Southern Chow
Chow Club will be our host.
As a reminder, the Board also decided that the 2022 National will
be held somewhere west of the Mississippi River and the National
Planning Committee will be working to find a site for it. If any club
is interested in submitting a bid, please contact me and I am happy to
assist in any way possible. Please note that bids for the 2022 National
Specialty are due no later than March 26, 2020.
After over two years of work, the revised By-Laws (as approved by
the membership) were approved by the AKC and are now in effect. A
sincere thank you goes out to Margaret DiCorletto, our AKC Delegate
on shepherding this through the AKC, which is no easy task.
In order for a club to continue to grow, a club needs new volunteers. I
am always looking for people who want to get involved with the club.
The CCCI has many standing committees and if you have any interest
in serving as Chair of any of the committees, please contact me.
As always, it is an honor to serve as your President and please feel free
to contact me should you have any suggestions or concerns by email
at huchu@aol.com or on my cell at (630) 878-2019. I look forward to
seeing everyone again next year in Niagara Falls.
