Project Brief

This project is located in the Wadi Rum area in south-
ern Jordan. The Wadi Rum area is considered one of
the virgin natural sites that human destruction has not
touched. Its nature is sandy and contains loud moun-
tains that appear wonderfully pink. For this reason, it
is called a piece of Mars. The Wadi Rum region is wit-
nessing great tourist activity, which encouraged inves-
tors to build tourist segments that serve the visitors
of this region. The design idea is to respect the site’s
sensitivity to urban human destruction. For this, the
design was made using the ferrocement system, which
is one of the simplest ways to build in such an area, as
it depends on the sand available in the area by add-
ing some cement materials. This mixture is applied to
a simple metal grille, and the wall is produced from it.
The roof is of the same element, and the thickness of
the walls does not exceed 7 cm. This is what makes the
construction light in weight, as it does not need sub-
stantial concrete foundations.
