Page 4 - Raycliff Mary Harris - A Family Enigma
P. 4
The marriage of Raycliff Mary Harris to Jeremiah Patrick Cronin took place on
June 8, 1887 at Our Lady Help of Christians, New-
ton, MA. Although raised in a Baptist family, she
was married in a Catholic church. Discovered
among our family archives was a newspaper clip-
ping reporting the wedding. It must have been a
grand ceremony as the bridal party numbered 20 of
her close friends and associates. No mention of her
family was reported which was puzzling to me. In
the 1880 federal census we know that Jeremiah was
living in a boarding house in Waltham with his fam-
ily and it is assumed they still lived there at the time
of the wedding. We don’t know where in Newton
Raycliff resided but it could have been in the New-
tonville neighborhood which abuts the area of
Waltham where Jeremiah lived. Wedding Announcement of Raycliff
