Page 7 - Raycliff Mary Harris - A Family Enigma
P. 7
Raycliff’s life following the divorce can be traced through census records, mar-
riage records, and death records. The 1896 census for Melrose shows her at 4
Grove St living with Aaron Harris. At that time she was listed as a “Milliner”
and her brother Aaron as a “Lather”. On Octo-
ber 2, 1899 she married Clarence E. Clemson,
her second husband. They were married at the
Park Street Chapel in Boston by John L.
Withrow, Minister of the Gospel and Pastor of
the church. They lived together at 19 Scott St.,
Woburn and gave her occupation as “At
Home” and her age at 25, another falsehood.
In the 1900 federal census she had moved with
Clarence to 98 Blossom St., Fitchburg and they
were listed as “Lodgers”. Once more she gave
her age to be 25. The 1910 federal census
shows her at 2 Myrtle St., Winchester and lists
her age at 37 born in Maine. The 1920 census
shows her at 11 Benton St., Stoneham with an Marriage to Clarence E. Clemson
age of 45. She would remain at this address un-
til her death.
