Land lls represent our primary compe on in areas where waste transport by road is viable. Loading and transport to land ll becomes expensive as the distance increases. In addi on to loading and transport costs, clean back ll is typically needed. This adds to the overal cost of land ll disposal.
Con ngent liability follows this waste into the land ll. Companies that bury their contamina on con nue to be liable for the waste - forever. If (usually when) the land ll ul mately has containment issues, the government les claims against every person or company that disposed of waste in that land ll.
