Page 2 - What is tithing
P. 2
2) Christianity is not a religion but a KINGDOM
Christianity is a KINGDOM and not a religion (Thy Kingdom come is what we
pray), every kingdom advance by its tax system. Tithing is our tax systems. The
kingdom of God must advance and one of the ways is through the taxation system
of the church which is tithing. Giving to the poor is good but that will not empower
the church to advance in missions, structures, and have the impact we need to
make as a kingdom on this earth. God knew he can’t leave the church at mercy of
the church members giving and hence created a taxation (tithing) system and if you
claim to be part of this KINGDOM you must be part of the tax (Tithe) payers. As
written in Matthew 23:23 Give to the poor but don’t forsake paying your tithes.
3) The priest or pastor eat from the tithes as well.
1 Corinthians 9:13-14 New International Version (NIV)
13 Don’t you know that those who serve in the temple get their food from the
temple, and that those who serve at the altar share in what is offered on the altar?
14 In the same way, the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel
should receive their living from the gospel.
THE ULTIMATE MISTAKE
1) Nowhere is it written in the bible that we should give our tithes to the poor. Tithe is
to be given to the house of God that feeds you with the word of God. There is no
way you will give your tax money to the poor because you think the government
don’t deserve it, it will never happen. Even with governments mismanaging tax
payers money you still have no rights to pay your tax to the poor.
Do some pastors and churches mismanage church funds? YES of course.
Are they pastors who preach tithing just to make money out of it? YES
So as a Christians you must pray for the Holy Spirit to direct you to the right
church and right pastor you should tithe to.
2) Another mistake people make is they look at the mega churches and calculate the
amount of tithes they receive. Have you thought of the small churches with
5,20,30,50 etc. members and most of the time it’s the pastor who even takes care of
them? I bear witness to that. I grew up in a church were the tithes was basically
nothing. The pastor fed most of us in church. The tithes and offering could not
even take care of the church bills. So before you criticize tithing because your eyes
are on the mega churches think of that small church, that missionary in a village
somewhere etc and let the Holy Spirit convict you of your mislead and misplaced
priority.
