meet with your client’s technical and financial contacts to carry out a detailed evaluation of their project activities and expenditure
For R&D tax credits, they will write the all-important Technical Report in support of your client’s claim, which:
describes what the client is claiming for and why the work is considered to be eligible for R&D tax relief
sets out the eligible work in clear and unambiguous terms, linking each project and its elements to the guidelines of HMRC’s Corporate Intangibles Research & Development (CIRD) manual
ensures that claims are strongly defensible to HMRC by identifying and describing only the specific activities within a project that meet the criteria of CIRD81900.
support the client in tracking and capturing all the associated project costs
For R&D tax credits, they will produce the Financial Schedule, which:
quantifies the eligible costs of the work described in the Technical Report
spans all the eligible costs and provides a detailed breakdown showing HMRC who was involved in each project and for what percentage of their time
considers the effects of de minimis grants, Notified State Aid and subcontracting arrangements, ensuring the accuracy of your client’s claim.
manage any questions or requirements regarding the claim from HMRC.
Both the Technical Report and Financial Schedule are checked for accuracy and risk by our dedicated Quality Assurance team prior to submission to your clients and HMRC. This meticulous attention to detail protects clients from unnecessary attention from HMRC and makes enquiries much simpler to defend.
