Technical Specification
           and Standards

           Product specification
The standard for conduit tube and conduit fittings, BS EN 61386 and BS 4568, lays out a number of mechanical
properties as well as classifications for resistance to corrosion, resistance to compression and electrical continuity.

           • This standard not only checks the ovality of the conduit tube, but also the wall thickness and threads. The
standard requires conduit tube to be formed with the welded seam in different positions, with the conduit to
remain round and without splitting after being bent.

           • DETA TTE conduit tube meets the highest classifications for resistance to compression (>4000N), impact and
bending, as well as tensile strength (>2500N). Furthermore, DETA TTE conduit tube and malleable conduit
fittings meet the highest classification for resistance to corrosion within the standard, namely “Class 4 Heavy
Protection”, where the product is galvanised inside and out.

           • Electrical continuity also forms part of the tests completed and DETA TTE conduit tube and conduit fittings
meet the requirement for creating an effective conducting earth path.

              Specification

Material Made from Grade Q195 Steel.

Manufacturing Process Tubes are roll formed, and electrical resistance welded.

Resistance against corrosion Hot dipped galvanised to BS EN 61386 Class 4 using a specialist
superheated steam blast to ensure the bore is smooth and clear of
defects that might damage cables during installation.

Resistance to compression Tested to very heavy grade - Classification 5.

Resistance to impact Tested to very heavy grade - Classification 5.

Tensile strength Tested to very heavy grade - Classification 5.

Standard BS 4568 -1 Steel Conduit and fittings with metric threads.

Standard BS EN 61386 - 21 Conduit systems for cable management - requirements for rigid conduit
                                           systems.

Storage Galvanised conduit should be stored in dry conditions to prevent wet
storage stain. (Should this occur, it can easily be removed and is unlikely
                                           to affect resistance to corrosion)
