EXTRA INNINGS FELLOWSHIP
The Jackie Robinson Foundation’s (JRF) Extra Innings Fellowship Program (“Extra Innings”) was
established in 2006 to help JRF Alumni overcome one of the biggest challenges of their career–the cost
of an advanced professional or graduate degree. Extra Innings Fellows have pursued graduate degrees in
a variety of subjects and have attended a range of institutions, including the Ivy League, public and private
colleges and universities, Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), and religious schools.
Participants have embarked upon diverse career paths, from physicians, researchers and educators to legal
professionals and business executives. The program awards financial grants of up to $10,000 per year for a
minimum of two years, with an average annual grant of $7,400.
Since its inception, JRF has awarded $1.6 million to 115 Extra Innings Fellows.
