WELCOME! That feels wonderful. Let me write that
again. WELCOME!
Last summer, when we began talking about musical, we
had no idea what the world would look like by the
time we got to April. Honestly, we didn’t know a lot.
We didn’t know how school programming might be, what
Covid would be like, how to ensure safety, and
countless other questions we couldn’t answer and
concerns we didn’t know how to address.
At the same time, there was a lot we DID know. We
knew we would be back and that we were determined to
perform a full-length musical. We knew we would be
rebuilding our program and that we would reinvent
ourselves. We knew it made sense to not try to do
what we had always done when we have all been changed
and impacted by the last two years in countless ways.
We knew “the world will know” and understand.
We decided to be true to ourselves in maximizing our
strengths and “seizing the day” and our opportunities
for growth. We selected a show to highlight the
diversity of our students and their skill sets, that
would be family-friendly, and have everyone cheering
for the underdog. We had no idea what to expect at
auditions, but we knew we were 100% invested in
creating something very special.
