— “for we are made a spectacle” — We get
our word “theater” from that — “for we are
made a spectacle unto the world, and to
angels, and to men.” None of us want to be
made fun of, do we? We don't want people
laughing at us. Nobody wants to be made a
spectacle. Nobody wants to be put on
center stage and laughed at and mocked
and scorned — none of us. I mean, human
nature says, “I don't want any of that.” But
Paul was beyond human nature, and he
said, “This is our life. We're a spectacle.
We're put on stage. We're laughed at by
the world and by angels and by men.” And
he said in verses 10 through 13, “We are fools
for Christ's sake, but ye are wise in Christ;
we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are
