read stories of the martyrs. When I read
about things that people have been through,
it's amazing — and they did all of this for
Christ and kept doing it and going through
this. That encourages me.
Notice in verse 7 Paul says, “And lest I
should be exalted above measure through
the abundance of the revelations, there was
given to me a thorn in the flesh, the
messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I
should be exalted above measure.” Verse 8
says that Paul prayed three times that God
would remove his thorn in the flesh, and
God said in verse 9, “My grace is sufficient,”
and then the apostle Paul said in the middle
