Herod
As we come back to this passage, I want you
to notice what it says in verses 1 to 3: "Now
about that time Herod the king stretched
forth his hands to vex certain of the church.
2 And he killed James the brother of John
with the sword. And because he saw it

pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to
take Peter also. (Then were the days of
unleavened bread.)” And then in verse 4
when Herod had apprehended Peter, he
decided to wait until after Easter before he
would put him to death. Now, think with
me. First of all, these passages do not say
that Easter is a pagan holiday. Secondly,
these verses do not say that Herod
worshiped some spring goddess. They
