Israel, and if Herod killed Peter during the
time of their holy days, there would
probably be an uprising, and Herod knew
that it would be political suicide to bring
about trouble in Jerusalem, because there
were Jews in Jerusalem from every nation
that came there to observe Passover and
Unleavened Bread — multitudes of Jews in
the city of Jerusalem — and Herod knew
that it would be wise to wait until after
Passover, wait until after Unleavened Bread,
because if he had an uprising in his
providence, he would be in trouble and
incur wrath upon himself from the Roman
government. We see similar situations in
the Scripture.
