opposition and this hostility, extends to our

nearest and dearest relationships.

The Conflict of the Sword

Now, let's come to our second point, and

that is “The Conflict of the Sword.” I didn't

know any other way to put this. Now, this

sword is not literal. Jesus isn’t talking about a

literal sword that would be carried into

warfare. Let me give you two words that will

define this sword: spiritual warfare. The

conflict of this sword is spiritual warfare. And

what is the context? The Lord is saying if you

preach the Gospel and stand for Christ, you will

be disliked, you will be persecuted, you will

have opposition from the world and from

relatives and also sometimes within your own

household. So that's the context.
