relatives. That's not what Jesus is saying. He’s

just telling us who we've got to love the most.

We are to love our family, love our relatives,

love our friends, we're even told to love our

enemies and especially love our neighbors. But

we must love God above all others, even above

our spouse, our children, our mother and our

father and everyone — and that's not the case

in many families. So Jesus says in verse 37 of

Matthew 10, “He that loveth father or mother

more than me is not worthy of me: and he that

loveth son or daughter more than me is not

worthy of me.”

In Luke 10:27 we're told that the first and

great commandment is to love God with all of

our heart, soul, mind, and strength. That's the
