creation  was  subject  to  vanity  because  of



             man's fall. So here we find in this text that



             the primary meaning of vanity is that which



             is  fleeting,  does  not  last,  is  temporal,  it's



             brief, is passing away, it comes and it goes,



             and Solomon  is  going  to  illustrate that in



             this chapter.





                    Notice verse 3: “What profit hath a man



             of all his labour which he taketh under the



             sun?”   In  other  words,  what's  the  point?



             Why bother working and living through this



             life, this endless cycle of work — get up in



             the morning and go to work and go to bed


             at night.  It just seems like a poor return.  I




             mean,  you  work  all  your  life  to  eat  and


             whatever.  You give your whole life to it, and
