with cutting off the ear of the servant of the

high priest and probably cutting his head

off? What if Christ had allowed that to go

through? There would have been no cross;

there would have been no Calvary; there

would have been no salvation for you and

me. In Luke chapter 14, verses 26 through

33, Christ talks about discipleship, and,

again, He said to take up thy cross — not

thy sword — and follow me. He's dealing

with self-denial in that passage.

John the Baptist said in John 3:30, “He

must increase, but I must decrease.” First

Corinthians 1:29 says, "That no flesh should

glory in his presence.” In Romans 1, they

worship the creature more than the Creator.
