and godly, in this present world; Looking for

that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of

the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem

us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a

peculiar people, zealous of good works. These

things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all

authority. Let no man despise thee.” Notice in

verse 12 that the grace of God that saves us also

teaches us that we are to deny ungodliness and

worldly lusts, that we should live soberly and

righteously and godly in this present world. And

I want you to notice that we are a redeemed

people, verse 14, and we've been redeemed from

all iniquity, and we are to purify ourselves

because we are a peculiar people, and we are to

be zealous of good works.
