North Valley/Los Ranchos/Corrales
he North Valley/Los Ranchos & Corrales areas
are in a lush green valley that runs along the
TRio Grande. This area is known for its wonderful
outdoor activities, wineries, farmers markets and spas.
The area is lush and a beautiful area to drive through
in the fall to see the changing leaf colors. Homes in
this area are a wide variety. The North Valley area
is large but has a small town feel with many local
shops, restaurants, riding, biking and walking trails.

South Valley/Barrelas
ust south of the Downtown area lies the historic
Hispanic neighborhood of Barelas. This area was
Joriginally settled because of its proximity to a natural
ford in the Rio Grande river, and to the Camino Real, the
colonial era trail that led more than 1,000 miles south
to Mexico City. Although Barelas is close to the heart of

East Mountains

East of Albuquerque lie the mountain
communities of Tijeras, Cedar Crest, Sandia
Park, Golden, Madrid and Cerrillos. These
historic villages are all connected by the
Turquoise Trail, a National Scenic Byway.
The Sandia Peak Ski Area offers hiking
and mountain biking in the summer and
skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing
in the winter. The Ski Area has dozens
of trails serviced by four chairlifts, a
surface lift and a children's mighty mite.
