This is a marvellous example
of a woven plat. As the
photos show. three of the
strands (in this case white.
red. and yellow) make up the
warp and one, the blue strand,
acts as the weft. The braid
should be tightened well each
time the blue strand is passed
across the others, giving a
very ornamental effect which
keeps its shape even under
great strain. The method is
clearly illustrated in the
sequence of photographs.
